Lavender is a wonderful herb that most of the world already knows about. But, did you know that it is medicinal?
It is no accident that lavender scents can be found in spas across the world and in skin care products on every shelf in the country. Why? Because lavender is relaxing, anti-viral, and more.
It is a strongly aromatic herb that has an affect on our nervous system and will help us calm down. Not only does it relax our nervous system, but it will relax our muscles, especially when used topically.
Lavender is often put in this “calming” box, but it really has so many other powerful benefits packed in its flowers and leaves.
Cautions & Contraindications
Lavender is generally considered quite safe when talking about a full plant extract. That means if you, or the product maker, takes the whole lavender plant and extracts its constituents, it is safe. However, that is not what some people do. Some companies save money by making the scent synthetically. Make sure when using a product with lavender in it, it is 100% pure and not synthetic. It is best to dilute lavender essential oil with a carrier oil when using directly on skin. Do not make tea from lavender flowers bought from florist shops because there is a high chance they were sprayed with pesticides.

Try out lavender for yourself! There are many ways to work with lavender so give them a try for yourself to see what you like! I personally do not love lavender tea as a stand-alone, but really enjoy it in the evening, before a stressful meeting, or before bed in a calming tea blend.
